Dr Louise Merrington

Louise is a writer and Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) Accredited Editor (AE) specialising in complex content and plain English for government, businesses, universities and non-profits.
With a PhD and over 20 years of publishing experience, she combines high-level analytical and research skills with a strong knowledge of language and written communications. She has previously worked as a journalist, as an intelligence analyst and editor with the Defence Intelligence Organisation, and in university communications.
Louise sits on the Standards Australia Plain Language Working Group, which is overseeing the introduction of the new international plain language standard, and is the Editors NSW delegate to the IPEd Accreditation Board.
Her recent clients include academics from RMIT University and Charles Sturt University, as well as Monash University, Dementia Australia, Dietitians Australia, St John Ambulance Australia, the Australian Federal Police and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
