With a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Melbourne and a PhD (in Ecology and Evolution) from Monash University, Krys brings with her a dual affinity for the sciences and the power of the written word. A long-standing interest in the natural world – and in particular, all things aquatic – have underscored her professional interests to date. Her multidisciplinary PhD research at Monash University saw her navigating the stunning landscapes of central Australia to investigate the behaviour, genetics, and conservation of a remarkable arid-adapted fish, the desert goby.
A strong believer in the value of increasing science literacy and in promoting connectedness between the social and natural worlds, Krys has particular aptitude for communicating complex scientific ideas to varied audiences. She harnesses an analytical mindset together with the tools of creative writing to achieve elegant, precise texts that convey the core meaning of science projects, and is keen to see the value of strong communication find greater uptake in scientific research. To this end, Krys enjoys working with colleagues and clients to produce strong, cohesive texts that do their content justice.
