Holding a Bachelor of Science (with Honours in Ecology) and a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing, Nicola has found a love of clear communication and a passion for environmental sustainability to be compelling drivers throughout her professional life. During her honours research in bushland she became increasingly interested in urban ecology and the idea of an environmental footprint. She developed a particular enthusiasm for cycling, long before it became fashionable – albeit more for transport than for sport.
Combined interests in writing and bicycle touring, along with a taste for adventure, led her to a job writing and editing cycling guidebooks for travel publisher Lonely Planet. She later became editor of Ride On magazine, published by Bicycle Network Victoria (formerly Bicycle Victoria). Along with her work as a Text Minding Associate for Mind Your Way, Nicola continues to write on a freelance basis, and also spends a considerable amount of time encouraging her three young children to listen and communicate effectively.
